OJD Welcomes Fall Intern

OJD Welcomes Fall Intern

September 17, 2026 by Amanda Bunch

Mikenna Morrison

My name is Mikenna Morrison, and I am currently a 3L at Campbell Law School. I attended East Carolina University for my undergraduate studies, where I majored in Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Since beginning law school, I have gained diverse internship experience, including work in the nonprofit sector, prosecution, private criminal defense, and I will be spending my fall 3L semester at the Office of The Juvenile Defender. At Campbell, I am also a co-manager of the Education Pro Bono Project, Treasurer of the Plaintiff’s Advocacy and Litigation Society, and a member of the Mock Trial Team.

I was particularly drawn to the North Carolina Office of the Juvenile Defender because of my background and my longstanding interest in working with young people. Both of my parents were educators, and before law school, I worked as a preschool teacher. I have always valued the role that young people play in our communities and have seen firsthand how experiences during childhood can shape a person’s life well into adulthood. I am excited to work with the Office of the Juvenile Defender, as the work will allow me to combine that passion with my interest in advocacy and the law.

Outside of law school, I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether that means being at the beach or in the mountains. I also love spending time with my friends, my black lab, and my tuxedo cat. December is my favorite month of the year because of both Christmas and my birthday. And, one last thing: GO BILLS!
